Peregrine House, atop one of San Antonio’s highest points, assumes an aerodynamic folded wing body position akin to the peregrine falcon, the fastest bird in the world. Exterior spaces beneath the wings – one high and one low – are cooled by funneled air flow and shaded from the scorching sun. The main body, a projecting compact volume, is suspended above the site and overlooks a large adjacent parkland.
The great room occupies this cantilevered shaft providing a focused, elevated experience. A covered balcony beyond the expansive glass plane hovers above a vast green realm extending from the foreground meadow to the rippling horizon.
Soaring above the ground and harnessing the constant breeze, Peregrine House is a structure riding the wind.
