A weight room in the woods, Bexar Stronghouse is part of a residential compound near San Antonio, Texas. Built in support of the owners’ belief in longevity through strength, the structure itself embodies this idea with its stout concrete plinth, resilient masonry and metal clad walls, and durable aluminum-framed fenestrations. Large sliding doors allow a cross breeze to air-out the space, and a thirty foot wide window frames a view of the natural realm beyond. This immersion in the ephemeral environment focuses the family on seasons and cycles, inspiring their commitment to persevere through life’s ongoing challenges and changes.
